Kasipul to Host Digital Centre of Excellence to Boost Online Opportunities

The Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy has launched a digital hub and centre of excellence in Kasipul Constituency to empower local youth with online business and job opportunities.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Assistant Director ICT Geoffrey Omwenga revealed that the government aims to establish 100 digital hubs across all 47 counties. These include 47 centres of excellence and 53 standard hubs designed to enhance access to digital services.

The Kasipul digital centre, located at Kosele DCC grounds, is part of the first phase of this initiative. It will feature modern facilities such as boardrooms, training rooms, and Huduma Centre services.

The construction, estimated to cost KSh 23 million, is funded by the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) and is expected to be completed within two and a half months.

Omwenga also highlighted the broader goal of establishing 1,450 digital hubs nationwide through partnerships and the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). This initiative aligns with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), aiming to create a digital superhighway that equips youth with digital skills for self-employment.
